Street Fighter IV Volt tops iPhone Games of the Week (Appolicious)

Date: Thu, 30. June 2011 23:00:00
Appolicious - Be warned: The title leading off this week?s Best Games list is a quality release, but it?s going to frustrate you. That?s because Street Fighter IV Volt is merely a slight update to Capcom?s high quality fighting game Street Fighter IV due to the addition of online multiplayer. If it sounds like fun, you?re right, it can be ? until you take on some eight-year-old with an insane mastery of Ryu?s fireball move and some kind of supernatural ability to anticipate every time you?re even thinking about jumping. ...

Consumer Webcams With High-Quality Sensors?

Date: Thu, 6. May 2010 04:19:21
xmas2003 writes "Since 2005, I've had a live webcam watching my grass grow mdash; another is currently watching a bird nest on my front door mdash; five babies! While I appreciate the 802.11g wireless and Pan/Tilt/Zoom (10x optical) of the five-year-old D-Link DCS-6620g, it has issues, especially image quality. I've investigated getting a new webcam, but except for high-end/security-related gear from companies such as Axis, there doesn't seem to be much improvement in the consumer space, as most offerings are just cheaper and USB-connected for tethered video conferencing, etc." So where, the reader wants to know, are the high-quality, reasonably affordable webcams? Ashton Kutcher's Tweet-Too-Soon and the Quality of Speed

Date: Sun, 13. November 2011 14:35:40
The Penn State scandal left a lot of people blind sided, and no one more so than Ashton Kutcher. As Kashmir Hill describes in her 'Google before you tweet' post, Kutcher was tragically behind the news in a medium where, to quote a conversation I had with Forbes Chief Product Officer Lewis DVorkin, "Speed is Quality."* Kutcher's speed and immediacy has indeed been an important quality of his online success, since few genuine celebrities are willing to ride bareback as he has on Twitter.

Lack of Bandwidth Oversight Damages HDTV Quality

Date: Sat, 26. July 2008 15:05:16
mattnyc99 writes "Over at Popular Mechanics, Glenn Derene has a great new column investigating the lawless lands of broadcast television, where the quality of the picture that ends up on your expensive hi-def set is determined by a bunch of fuzzy math. Quoting: 'In fact, there's no real regulation over high-definition picture quality at all — "none whatsoever," one industry consultant told me. And that's part of the reason why different HD stations often have wildly varying levels of picture quality that change from one moment to the next. Behind the scenes, content producers, broadcasters and cable and satellite providers are engaged in a constant tug-of-war over bandwidth and video quality, with no hard metrics to even define what looks acceptable. Even officials at HBO, where Generation Kill looks pretty fantastic on my TV, bemoaned the lack of a silver bullet ... for now.'"Read more of this story at Slashdot.
